Welcome!

My name is Gus.

I'm entering my seventh season covering the Jacksonville Jaguars, and my third season as a credentialed media member. Maybe you've seen some of my work at Locked on Jaguars, Jaguars on SI, Big Cat Country, or 1010XL.

It's been a blessing to cover my hometown team – but due to the nature of the industry, I've had to focus on quantity over quality. I was writing a dozen articles and hosting half a dozen podcasts every week last season.

I don't want to provide news updates for the sake of clicks. I want to provide football knowledge for the benefit of fans.

I want to get back to telling you why Gardner Minshew is not a longterm answer despite his rousing rookie season. Or how Joe Cullen adapted his defense to defeat Josh Allen and the Bills. Or why Tyson Campbell is worthy of Pro Bowl consideration. Or how Trevor Lawrence deserves none — but also, all — of the blame.

I'll let others tell you who, what, and when. I want to tell you why and how.

So I'm starting my own site.

The name Duval 22 is a nod to All-22 coaches film, which shows all 22 players on the field, whereas TV broadcasts don't always show the full picture.

I'll do the best I can to show you the full picture, by blending film and analytics to bring an unprecedented level of analysis to Jaguars faithful.

As Tony Boselli said in the spring, "It's about what happens on the grass. We're going to keep the main thing the main thing."

My 2025 in-season content plan includes:

• 5 Numbers to Know (analytical game previews and recaps)
• Weekly Awards (highlighting top game performers in various categories)
• Trevor Tracker (dedicated coverage of Trevor Lawrence)
• Gus Bets (actionable advice for fantasy football and sports betting)

More articles will be posted throughout the season to illuminate notable trends and key insights as they arise.

Beyond feature-length articles, this site will have a few exciting features. A Roster page that displays info/stats/articles for each player is already live. More sections (like salary numbers, injury info, and fun facts) and will be added over time.

There will also be a Stats page that offers extensive data and pretty graphics. A podcast feed, YouTube page, social media presence, and subscribers-only Discord chat are coming as well.

I hope to add more contributors down the road, but for now, this is a passion project that is meant for you as much as it is for me.
