Why Travis Hunter is due for a long TD

Top Props for Jaguars vs Chiefs in Week 5

Welcome back!

We went 1-2 last week, though one of the L's was a half-unit on Demarcus Robinson to score at +560 odds.

2025 betting record: 8-7 (53%, +1.15 units)

Below are my favorite Week 5 wagers for Jaguars (+3.5) vs Chiefs.

Travis Hunter over 26.5 receiving yards (-114, FanDuel)

I have a hunch.

Hunter played 9 defensive snaps last week, all in the first quarter, and the Jaguars pulled him from that side of the ball after he allowed a 3rd down conversion. Liam Coen claimed postgame that the decision was made to allow more reps for Montaric Brown and Jarrian Jones.

What if Jacksonville has reconsidered its plan for Hunter? I have no doubt that the long-term goal is still for him to play both sides of the ball – but considering his lack of playmaking through one month, maybe the team will have him study just one side of the ball in the short-term. Let him master one position at a time rather than two at once.

If this comes to fruition, and the Jaguars only focus on his offensive impact, Hunter will be a featured part of the gameplan with plenty of chances to reach 27 receiving yards. If I'm wrong, he should still have enough chances to make plays on Monday night.

Hunter hauled his first deep catch of the season in Week 4. He was also open on at least one, arguably two, other deep routes in the same game. This is encouraging for a team that's desperate for explosive passing plays.

Whether or not Hunter is a full-time offensive player, the Jaguars should lean on him to generate chunk plays down the field with Brian Thomas Jr. likely to earn extra attention. The Chiefs limited A.J. Brown to 27 yards and Malik Nabers to 13 yards earlier this season; Spags is sure to have a plan to contain BT.
